HESPERIA, Calif. — A 50-year-old Hesperia man died following a shooting Monday night, and authorities later arrested his brother in connection with the homicide investigation.
The shooting was reported on May 11, 2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m. in the 9000 block of Second Avenue in Hesperia.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies arrived at the scene and located Adrian Clay Wrice, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Wrice was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department said the incident stemmed from an argument prior to the shooting. Authorities identified the suspect as 30-year-old Talib Elisha Venegas of Hesperia, who is also Wrice’s brother. Officials said Venegas fled the scene before deputies arrived.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division–Homicide Detail responded and took over the investigation. An arrest warrant was later issued for Venegas.
With assistance from the Specialized Enforcement Division, Venegas was located and taken into custody. Authorities said he was booked into the High Desert Detention Center, where he remains held without bail.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said additional details may be released as they become available.
